What you are expected to do:
- 10+ years of experience in IT solution design and technical leadership roles within financial services.
- Experience in the Life & Pensions industry – Mandatory
- Hands-on experience in policy and customer data migration projects within life insurance.
- Strong knowledge of midrange and/or mainframe platforms.
- Proven ability to design and implement complex IT solutions involving multiple systems and integrations.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and providing architectural guidance.
- Familiarity with data migration tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of modern cloud technologies and their application in insurance system migrations.
- Prior experience with large-scale life insurance transformation programmes.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in Life & Pensions.
- Technical certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, etc.).

What you will do:
- Lead the technical architecture and solution design for large-scale projects, focusing on life insurance platform migrations.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, programme managers, and development teams to define and deliver robust technology solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure architecture and design align with enterprise standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements within financial services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new solutions with existing midrange and mainframe systems.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, resilient, and cost-effective technical solutions.
- Manage and resolve technical risks, dependencies, and issues within programme delivery.
- Oversee data migration design, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of policy and customer data during platform transitions.
- Participate in technical governance forums, providing guidance and decision-making support.
- Produce high-quality architectural documentation, including solution blueprints, data flow diagrams, and integration designs.
- Support performance optimisation, testing, and troubleshooting of technical solutions.
