Our client, a leading banks in Ireland, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environment Automation Engineer to work in Dublin, Ireland.

What you are expected to have:
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Environment Automation, Platform Engineering, or a related role.
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications or platforms.
- Demonstrable deep troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability under pressure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Python scripting.
- Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub, or GitLab and branching workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins pipeline administration and development.
- Solid Linux administration skills (Windows knowledge is an advantage).
- Experience with release and deployment management practices.
- Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes container platforms.
- Experience working with AWS cloud (Azure or GCP experience is also acceptable).
- Experience working in enterprise-scale, regulated environments.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
- Knowledge of SSL/MTLS certificates.
- Experience supporting environments across the full software delivery lifecycle, including test and production environments.
- Strong understanding of release management, deployment automation, and environment promotion strategies.
- Experience working within controlled production change processes.
- Proven track record of replacing manual processes with automation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, middleware, operating system, network, infrastructure, and deployment tooling layers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services or other regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of security and compliance automation is desirable.
- Experience implementing or working with DORA metrics.
- Exposure to Agentic AI, AI-assisted operational automation, intelligent workflow orchestration, AI-driven incident management, AI-enabled deployment validation, or Generative AI technologies is an advantage.
What you will do:
Environment Automation & Engineering
- Design, build and maintain automation for environment provisioning, configuration and operational support.
- Develop reusable automation using Ansible, Terraform, Python and Jenkins.
- Identify repetitive manual activities and replace them with reliable automated solutions.
- Build self-service capability to allow delivery teams to complete standard environment requests without manual EMS intervention.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption across the environment estate, from System Test through to Production.
- Improve automation standards, templates, scripts, pipelines and reusable engineering patterns.
- Ensure automation is documented, supportable and transferable across the team.
Environment Troubleshooting & Stability
- Lead investigation of environment issues, deployment failures and platform instability.
- Troubleshoot across application, middleware, operating system, network, infrastructure and deployment tooling layers.
- Analyse pipeline failures, logs, monitoring output and infrastructure events.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support critical releases, urgent environment issues and major incidents impacting delivery.
- Ensure recurring issues are resolved through engineering improvements rather than repeated manual workarounds.
Deployment & Tooling Support
- Support Jenkins pipeline administration, troubleshooting and enhancement.
- Improve deployment reliability across all environments, from System Test through to Production.
- Standardise deployment support processes across platforms and applications.
- Partner with application and platform teams to improve release readiness.
- Help introduce deployment controls, validation checks and automated guardrails.
- Support environment readiness activities for major releases and project milestones.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with SMEs and support engineers to capture, simplify and automate manual processes.
- Improve monitoring, logging and operational visibility across environments.
- Contribute to platform modernisation initiatives, including OpenShift, containers and cloud adoption.
- Promote automation best practice and upskill colleagues where required.
- Build trust through small, visible improvements before scaling larger automation changes.
- Contribute to service standards, operational procedures and continuous improvement roadmaps.
Governance, Risk & Operational Control
- Ensure automation aligns with Bank standards, control requirements and audit expectations.
- Maintain clear documentation, runbooks and evidence for automated processes.
- Support controlled change and release delivery across all environments in line with Bank governance and risk requirements.
- Help reduce operational risk by improving consistency, repeatability and traceability.
- Ensure environment changes are delivered in a controlled, transparent and supportable manner.
